There are specific areas in law which professional sportspeople, particularly rugby and football players, will find more relevant to their profession than others. Employment law is unquestionably the most relevant. With the steady increase of money in both sports, Intellectual Property law is becoming more and more important and hence the need to protect players 'added value' vested in their personality and public profile - David Beckham is a perfect example.

In this section we will consider such relevant areas of law. We will explain what the law is generally and also, when thought applicable, suggest things to consider or steps to take to try and help a player in such situations.
